"Animals in cages, they bother me
they're just staring at you
staring at them
no reaction
they're so weathly
they built that zoo for everybody
they're free
they're free
for to hibernate"

born 1977, Peterborough, N.H.
I make things.
I worry.
In my imagination, my work is an effort to suggest something civilized and base, like bacteria who live symbiotically.
I tend to think about organic movement patterns: urban nomads, weeds, graffiti writers, paint huffers, lawless children... Then I think about the how and why of counting things, mapping things at all. Where do we get our notions of fitness?
I know I have a propensity toward tragic lenses, and I try to use humor in small slices to negotiate this heavyness.
I tend to use any medium I need to. In the past (and present): fabrication, assemblage, sculpture, painted surface, performance, drawing, video, still photograph, screenprint, installation, costume making and situation have been employed.
My aims are to keep learning, to keep moving like a fish, to help myself and others adapt, and to listen.
I am dedicated to the principle of engaging found/discarded objects, bartered goods and services and donated supplies as my source material.
